Claypole sets up his feet quickly out his stance and takes on the defender with a strong base. He has solid core strength and moves feet well with the defender. Does a solid job in pass protection – kick-step is pretty good. Nice leg drive while blocking and uses hands well. Very good hand placement. Would like to see him get quicker with his feet and work on flexibility. Definitely like what I’m seeing on film here. Claypole does a good job of sealing off his block and continues to drive the defender until they are on the ground. He could be more efficient with his finishing though, and he does lose balance at times. Continuing to get quicker with his feet should probably be the top priority. Claypole is probably a G or C at the next level. If he got a little quicker I would think center is a perfect match. Overall I like Claypole, he seems like a high-character player too, and should be a welcomed addition to any college campus. Weight lifting numbers are very good, the 365 PC is near the tops of OL at his size and combine with his squat, shows how strong he is in the lower body.
