Bird is a good athlete who went 113 of 167 last year for 1529 yards and also 452 rushing yards. He had a total of 19 touchdowns. It Bird’s first year as the starting QB over at North Paulding, so there was an adjustment for sure. He threw a few bombs though, and also had a few long runs even too. He’s a quick athlete and can breakout of a tackle for a long run. Bird broke a few long plays in fact, and you sort of wonder if playing slot receiver would potential be a better fit. He needs work with his mechanics, and seems to throw the football like a baseball at times dropping his arm down. There is definitely good velocity on the throws. He is a good runner, but not sure why he didn’t run the ball even more, it looks like Bird is the type of athlete to get a lot of closer to 1000 yards rushing if they let him lose more. He is very good at making a defender miss in 1v1 situations and naturally just a creative runner, plus does a nice job of lowering his shoulder. I could see option teams being interested in Bird, his brother is a linebacker at the college level, and should easily be over 200 lbs. himself at the next level. Bird makes plays on the fly, just watch him take a botched snap on a xp as the holder and then roll out to throw for the 2-point conversion. Seems like a good candidate for option teams to go after.
