The explosive Pettigrew was the #2 receiver for the 4A Champions. Standing at around 6’2″ and 175 lbs., Pettigrew is an angular twitchy receiver who can hit his top speed in a few strides. This offseason he did a 10’7″ broad jump, which would be considered elite at the NFL combine, let alone a HS athlete. That explosiveness allows for him to gash the middle of the defense, but equally, get a lot of separation coming out of his breaks. He topped out with several runs around 20-21 MPH in 2023. The Perry product is a good route runner who puts a lot of pressure on the coverage with how explosive he comes out of his release. Pettigrew plays with a lot of urgency, and even after the catch he gets vertical with his running, You have to like his ability to make defenders miss after the catch and I can only expect Perry to take even more advantage with additional screen passes in 2024. Pettigrew shows solid hands and does a nice job coming back to the football and attacking the pass. He earned All-State honorable mention in 2023, and he will absolutely be a contender for first team All-State by the end of the season, no doubt.
