Standley is tough as nails and plays the game going 100 MPH. He puts his body on the line, and really gets right into the action. He plays with strong hands, gets good leverage and drives back blockers on the edge. Consistently lining up his tackles could use work, but when he hits the ball carrier square on he shows really good tackling fundamentals. Standley unloads some of his biggest hits on special teams. He gets low and does a great job of driving his legs through the contact. Overall his frame is pretty light, and you can tell he needs to improve his strength as he struggles at times at getting the ball carrier down. He has above average speed, and shows the reactions to be able to affect screen passes balls thrown out to the flat in general. He would be a good fit in a 4-2-5 defense playing LB – should be closer to 220 in college. Expecting his tackle total to take a big jump this season, and he will most likely be lining up at MLB too.
