Hayes was a recruit we were familiar with after his sophomore season at Landmark, but junior year we saw even more in terms of him becoming a legit defensive back recruit at the next level. Hayes is a smart player, he reacts well to the play. He has a natural ability at stepping up and stopping the run, but shows the instincts to also flip his hips and going sprinting down field. His versatility to defend the run and pass is well above average for his age group. Hayes is a solid tackler out in space. He is a tenacious hitter, not just on defense either, he makes a few big ones on special teams during returns. Considering his size, football IQ, and solo tackling ability I could see both FCS and D2 schools pursuing the 2019 recruit.
