Johnson is one of the best weight lifters in 3A for his weight group, and that translates well to the football field where you see his strength up top get a consistent push on the offensive line. Johnson’s strength is impressive, but what catches your eye more is how quickly he reads the play. Several times on film you’ll see Johnson peel off the rush and attack a screen pass over the middle or on the flat. The 2025 defensive tackles has pretty quick hands, but we would like to see him quick quicker and improve getting leverage. Johnson’s motor is impressive. He breaks through double teams and just keeps after the ball carrier cleaning up a lot of tackles from the backside, which helped him land 55 tackles on the year. Lateral quickness, timing his jump, and getting more explosive out of his stance are two key areas to improve this offseason. Johnson’s tenacity and work ethic are certainly an asset for a college at the next level, and we think local programs will be heavily interested in the defensive tackle.
