The basketball turn football player showed some promise in year 1 of football. He even played some TE, making a few one-handed catches. There is no doubt that he is a big moving athlete, and just watching him moving around on the field, he certainly looks like an FBS athlete. Very raw as a defender and his junior year he was not extremely physical. He is a naturally good athlete. Matthews is a lot more physical his senior year, really playing with urgency getting off the line and just seems to understand more where he needs to be. I like his potential on the defensive side of the ball, he has some really good versatility to play a lot of positions honestly, but I like how you can slide him back and forth between DT and DE. He really took his game to another level here his senior year, playing with a lot more urgency, and with his size FBS programs should be all over him.
