Johnson racked up the touchdowns in 2020 with almost 20 on the year. The Eastside back hits full speed right on the handoff. Fearless running between the tackles and is very good at finding small creases to accelerate through. What stands out about Johnson is how quick he hits his top speed. He has some of the better acceleration at the position of any back in this recruiting class. Johnson does a very good job of reading his blocks. He reads defenders very well at the 2nd level. Sets up defenders and is very quick changing directions. At only 175 lbs., Johnson figures to be an all-purpose back at the next level. We figure the 2022 back can get over 190 though. Johnson has excellent running vision. He has a long running stride and solid forward lean. Pretty tough bouncing off tackles, but not a lot of broken tackles on film. Johnson has some legit versatility, and wouldn’t mind him more in the slot where he can create some damage in the passing game. We think the 2022 recruit’s ceiling is a lot higher than a lot of colleges would initially suspect.
