Cervantes took his nice freshman year where he plugged on offense and defense to another level as a sophomore where he was a standout on defense and one of the leading tacklers for the 2019 7-A state champions in Marietta. Cervantes does so much right at a fundamental stand point for his age. On defense, Cervantes has very good instincts pursuing the football, his above average acceleration puts the 2022 recruit in good positioning more times than not. He is a tough physical tackler – plays with a lot of intensity but even more importantly confidence. Cervantes is a hardworker in the weight room making solid gains each offseason. Cervantes was took his strong sophomore campaign and ended up leading his team in tackles 89, 7 for a loss and also playing some RB, especially in passing scenarios. Cervantes proved he could be the lead guy for the Blue Devils last year, and now has over 200 career tackles at the varsity level. Senior year is afoot, Cervantes will look to eclipse 100 tackles again on the year while also becoming one of the team’s leaders. The 2022 recruit has worked hard over his HS career not only on the field, but also in the classroom improving his GPA each semester since his freshman year and now showcasing a 3.7 GPA. Presbyterian offered earlier this offseason, and we suspect for D1’s will circle back around this fall to checkout the smart savvy linebacker out of Marietta.
