One of the more dynamic slot receivers in the class of ’24 is Cameron Loyd. The shifty receiver is an excellent route runner who does a great job of selling his route and using his outstanding quickness to explode out of his cuts. He is a natural at finding the gaps of the zone defense and when the plays breaks down Loyd naturally relocates making himself available to the QB. He is super fast in space, making hard cuts and showing excellent top-end acceleration into his full stride. Loyd is just tough to guard in the middle of the field in single man coverage. He averaged 17 yards per catch, and honestly, a lot of those yards came after. The 2024 receiver is definitely small in stature and it doesn’t appear his height has changed much from when he filled out the prospect form in 2020. A growth spurt is probably over with, but either way, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a slot receiver with the type of body control and acceleration coming and out of his breaks in the class of ’24. Loyd had about 800 yards receiving last fall. He returns back his senior year teaming up with one of the best WR groups in the state.
