Smallwood has legit speed, and was one of the real breakout players last fall for Wheeler County, a team that really made strides in 2020. It’s hard to ignore the speedy receiver’s acceleration into the open field, and he really just blows by Class A defender who have angles. Smallwood can really move, and has the long running stride with a natural forward lean you look for in FBS caliber speedsters. What I also like is after the catch how quickly he squares up his pads and gets up field. Smallwood also plays defensive back where his ability to change directions and make quick fluid movements is once again highlight to be FBS caliber. There is a lot of upside in the 2022 recruit, and we think he should be on most schools radar. Absolutely needs to be invited to any college camp as we expect him to do extremely well. On defense he does shows good tackling coming in low and showing good explosiveness in the hips prior to striking the ball carrier.
