Silas complied 8 sacks his junior year playing aggressive football off the edge. He carries himself well, has a strong lower body. Silas has grown some in the last 18 months. Getting two inches taller and adding about 20 lbs. He’s got adequate speed coming off the edge, hitting his top speed pretty quickly. Tough player who also got reps at RB. Silas ended up with a lot of clean shots at the QB. He’s good at timing the snap, but we would like to see more production where he gets off blocks and makes a play. He has a few solid plays where he rips through a block and makes a tackle on the edge and he does a good job of playing the outside, pushing the ball carrier into the pursuit. Silas energy and solid instincts reading the play has a lot of D1 schools interested. He is a solid tackler settling into an attempt and not being overly aggressive. The lack of size is a bit concerning for a player with almost no film in coverage. He’s basically and undersized pass-rusher at this point in his development. I do like how efficiently he tackles though, that’s a quality that sticks throughout his film but I’m just not sold on his speed coming off the edge.
