Ward earned All-State as a junior according to the AJC. The 6’4″ pass target uses his body well to catch the ball, and is a very strong player to bring down after the catch. Ward is a battering ram, can blow up defensive backs for extra yardage. Shows solid hands, reacts to the football and shows above average body control going up for the grab. Ward does a nice job of squaring up his shoulders to the pass, but would like to see him elevate and become more explosive this offseason. Ward is very comfortable high-pointing a pass – definitely a red zone target in college. He’s a good blocker who drives his feet through the defender. Solid leverage. Looks to have the skill set to become a nice pro style TE who can get close to 250 and make relatively tough catches in the red zone. Breaking more tackles after the catch would be a nice area to improve in 2019 as well as crisping up his routes.
