Fortson has a big junior year where he was continuously the player of the week for his team. He is a nice rangy looking athlete who covers a good bit ground when playing FS. Pretty solid going up for the pass, but does not explode either with his vertical. Fortson is a rock-solid defender, he shows good patience reading the play, and does a nice job of timing when to jump the pass so he can break it up. He almost baits the QB at times. Fortson is a good natural runner with some wiggle to him. What I like about Fortson is how get downhill when reading a run play and how he settles into tackle. He does a good job of squaring up and dropping his hips. Fortson is a good football player doing pretty much everything for Bowdon last year at RB, WR and FS. Keep an eye on how Fortson gains weight his offseason, he could make another jump if gets closer to 190 lbs. Ran a low 4.5 at his team’s most recent combine this May, starting to get some legit D1 interest now.
