What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?

My size allows me to handle the run and I have the footwork of a skill position player. I have sideline-to-sideline ability against the run and I am able to drop into coverage on the pass. I am responsible for calling in the plays on defense and allowed to make in-game changes. I currently have 75 tackles, 11 tackles for losses and 4 pass hurries. Woodward Academy is a college preparatory school and I have a 3.5 G.P.A. which shows I am a student athlete in a rigorous program.

Washington is a well-schooled ILB recruit with really impressive agility moving around in the tackle box. Washington looks like a prototypical WILL at the next level. I absolutely love his closing speed on the ball carrier, and he looks like a great candidate to play in a defense that is zone heavy. Washington is a really good hitter, and meets the ball carrier square in the numbers. He’s got powerful hands at the point of attack, but needs to get strong in his lower body still. Washington gets real low on his tackle attempts and is fundamental player always wrapping up at the waist and exploding through. Over the last year there is a lot to like in how he has filled out his frame, and heading into his senior year he is now at 225 lbs. He shows very good patience shading the ball carrier, keeping his pads parallel to the LOS. Needs to work on short burst acceleration – very quick to the ball due to instincts, but could close quicker. Washington does a nice job of meeting the ball carrier in the hole, he gets himself in the right spot, but would like to see him get even lower when making contact.
