Player Spotlight: Shaw’s Elusive RB Nick Beason

Nick Beason is the newest winner of the Recruit Georgia Play of the Day. The Class of ’17 prospect made a cut so hard that it left the defender tackling thin air and then put on the jets for a 40-yard score.

The elusive athlete from Shaw High School caught Recruit Georgia up on the latest with his recruitment. Currently, he is hearing the most from Kennesaw State, Florida A&M, Samford and Charleston Southern.

CnhFhUWUIAAMDHYBeason camped at Kennesaw State over the weekend and will probably make a return visit soon. Outside of the Owls, his schedule is mostly open. “I plan to visit multiple college campus during the fall, but I will also be visiting Kennesaw State’s campus in a few weeks,” Beason confirmed.

Beason believes he can score from anywhere on the field and one reason why earned the nickname “Beasonmode.” He models his game after Los Angeles Rams star Tavon Austin, saying, “We’re almost the same size and we’re explosive.”

The Shaw rising senior’s favorite position might surprise you since he plays running back mostly at Shaw. “My favorite position is WR because I’m able to use my cutting ability when running different route combinations.”

Beason is an impressive receiver and could potentially play slot receiver at the next level. He showcases really impressive hands on deep passes, which is an interesting dimension to his game.

The fleet-footed running back has worked hard this offseason on improving his speed, which he hopes will ignite his Shaw program.

“My goal is to help my team make the playoffs. Individually, my goal is to be a strong leader on my team.”
