Player Spotlight: Mill Creek OG Nick Campbell

Nick Campbell was one of the recent winners of Recruit Georgia’s exciting new Play of the Day feature.

The class of 17 offensive guard popped out of his stance quickly and then pulled across the line of scrimmage to deliver a devastating block to an oncoming linebacker for the winning play. The impact was so hard that the opposing player dislocated his shoulder and someone earlier referred to it sounding like a “car crash.”

CPXbNY7WUAABzl-For over a year now Recruit Georgia has been talking up athletes from Mill Creek‘s offensive line. They have strong fundamentals and also play with a lot of intensity, which makes them a fun bunch to watch. Next season the high school will have another crop of hog-mollies that will receive a ton of FBS attention.

Campbell is no exception, so we caught up with him to discuss the offseason and what he is currently working on. “I’m always working to improve my footwork and perfecting my technique.”

The rising senior lineman explained what makes him an intriguing prospect to colleges. “My biggest strength is my focus on what I can control; attitude, effort, technique, and grades.”

He is a versatile player capable of playing across the line but prefers to be playing closer to the ball. “My favorite position to play is quick guard (I like to pull a lot) and center.”

From a fundamental stand point, the young offensive guard is impressive. It comes to no surprise that his Dad also played big-time football back in his day. “I model my game after my Dad he played at Auburn and in the CFL.”

Campbell has been hearing from a number of schools. “The schools that I have talked to the most and have visited are Air Force, Southeastern, Western Carolina, Jacksonville State, Old Dominion, Elon, and Mercer.”

An interesting mixture of schools for the player who was a standout last summer at GT’s summer camp. A lot of schools are patient with their offers to offensive lineman but once he hits the summer camp circuit his recruitment should really heat up.

The rising senior has one big goal for next season after coming up short last year in the semifinals.

“My goals for next season are to be apart of a state championship team and to be a leader on my team.”
