Player Spotlight: Locust Grove WR Noah Holland

Noah Holland, an athletic rising senior from Locust Grove, was our most recent Play of the Day winner.

The sure-handed receiver made an impressive leaping grab over a defender, where he high-pointed the pass perfectly, then wrestled the ball away for a completion.

We caught up with Holland to discuss his offseason, recruitment and future goals.

“My goal next season is to play every game with no regrets and do what I have to do in order for my team to have a successful year.”

Locust Grove was a surprise during last year’s 2015 football season. They played a tough schedule, and had one of the best record in their classification entering postseason play.

Holland played an important role towards their success, but know’s he can still improve his game. “I can improve all levels of my game. No one’s perfect, and there is always room for improvement, always room to get better.”

Holland plays both defensive back and wide receiver for his team, but where he plays makes little difference to him. He just wants to win.

The rising senior believes he can make an impact in more than one way. “My biggest strengths is my toughness and will for the game, also my amazing hands.”

Watch the young receiver on film, and you can see how good his hands truly are. I was especially impressed with his ability to collect the pass into his body after making the catch. This makes it very hard to rake the ball loose and shows off his general field awareness.

The young athlete predicates his game off of two family members. “My two older brothers, they taught me to put God first and play hard like every game was my last.”

Holland has a lot of potential as a receiver at the next level, but also has solid instincts to play on the defensive side of the ball. He makes good breaks on passes, and is a solid tackler in open space.

Only a few schools have made contact with Holland so far. “I’ve been hearing from different schools through email from Kennesaw State to Winona, Middle Tennessee and also a few more.”
