Jacksonville State Offers Athletic Junior Linebacker

Relatively unknown inside linebacker prospect Michael Harris may not be a hidden commodity for much longer. Less than 24 hours after the dead period was lifted, Jacksonville State became the first school to offer the Class of ’18 linebacker.

Harris took to Twitter to announce his offer from the Gamecocks:

Even with his first offer in hand, a lot of colleges still have not seen film of Harris, and he has gone relatively unnoticed. He is a new transfer to Lovejoy, coming over from Miller Grove, and perhaps colleges lost sight of the young linebacker during the school change.

Regardless, the Class of ’18 prospect has the raw physical tools to play FBS football. Standing at 6’3″ and weighing in at 213 pounds, Harris is a sound tackler in open space and does an excellent job of wrapping up his tackles.

Harris wreaks havoc in the backfield, utilizing his quickness to beat slower offensive lineman. His speed on the field is very impressive. Harris accelerates quickly to the ball, which makes him terribly hard to block around the line of scrimmage and a devastating run-stopper.

Football season is just over a month away, and we are sure more schools will become interested in the young Lovejoy linebacker during the quiet period. His size and athleticism alone should grab the attention of almost every FBS scout in the region, so our staff feels pretty confident that more colleges will offer sooner rather than later.
