Hopper Dominates at UNC

Tyneil Hopper was offered by North Carolina on June 14th, making the Tar Heels his fourth offer to date. The Class of ’18 tight end is widely considered to be one of the best in his classification, and earlier this week the offer solidified why scouts think so highly of the Roswell junior.

Hopper was nearly impossible to stop in 1 v 1s at the North Carolina camp. He displayed outstanding footwork on his routes, and he really sold his fakes by digging into the defender and making lightning-quick cuts. Check out the video footage below courtesy of Tyrone Hopper (Tyneil’s father).

We anticipate Hopper will be one of the top TEs in the state this upcoming season. His footwork and route running is excellent for a Class of ’18 tight end. He has a quick release when being jammed at the line of scrimmage, and he does a great job of physically manhandling the defender to break free from press coverage.

Rivals.com’s Woody Wommack reported that Hopper received heavy attention at KIPP Atlanta’s Florida Gator camp yesterday, where two Gator staff members gave Hopper plenty of attention. Hopper also camped at VT/Georgia State, Rivals Upperclassmen Challenge and Clemson over the last few weeks and was a standout at all of those camps.

It’s really not a matter of if, but when, Hopper will start landing Power 5 offers in bunches. He has made major improvements from last season on a lot of the technical aspects of his game. Even though Roswell spreads the ball around, Hopper should be a very important part of the offense, especially in the red zone where he is deadly.
