Hilton Hype at Screven County

Sophomore playmaker AB Hilton has emerged this season as an impact player for Screven County. Screven County is 2-1 on the season, and the fleet-footed Hilton has 386 yards, and 4 touchdowns on 57 carries, giving him a 6.3 yards per carry.

Hilton’s longest run of the year went for 63 yards, but the most memorable occurred last Friday against Claxton. The sophomore took a handoff bouncing off tackle to the left sideline. With the defensive pursuit bearing down, Hilton was facing a moment to be creative, and he certainly delivered. The sophomore perfectly lept over one would-be tackler and then shrugged off another defender before getting around the pursuit. All that was left was green space, and the sophomore gallantly dove into the endzone.

The 16-yard touchdown earned him a spot in the top 10 plays of the week, and 24 hours later, Hilton was voted the #1 play for Week 4.

“My sophomore year is going great so far,” Hilton said. “My goals for this season are to work on my feet, and to be a team leader helping my team to wins.”

Hilton spent arduous hours during the offseason working on his running, how to see the field better, and utilizing his blocks.

“I improved the most in my confidence running the ball, hitting holes, and running behind my pads,” Hilton said.

With a reported 10.97 100m time, and a 6′ and 190 lbs. frame, Hilton has the size and speed that FBS programs covet. That should generate some college interest in the coming weeks and months, but for now, he is being patient.

“I feel my recruiting has just started and I have lots to learn. I haven’t gotten any visits yet but I’m planning on getting at least one.”

At just 15 years old, the sophomore’s recruitment has not even begun, but the Screven County athlete pops on film, and with his athletic ability, we figure college evaluators will be impressed.
