Sleeper of the Day

Nate Black
2025 Centennial
Safety

Centennial senior Nathan Black has been an impact player during the program’s undefeated 2024 start. The senior plays both safety and receiver and has been among the tackle leaders each week at Centennial. There are several double-digit tackle games. He played great in a win against Duluth. Although he lines up at safety, Black gets to the line of scrimmage quickly. He is efficient with his tackles, getting the ball carrier down quickly, and little yardage after contact. At 6’2″ and 190 lbs., we expected Black to be physical, but we like his mindset on the field. He doesn’t shy from contact, gets low on his strikes, and hits with velocity. You won’t see much shoulder-checking or wild tackle attempts from Black. His film at receiver is solid and shows that ball skills that will prove to be an advantage at safety. Although he is great in run support, we hope to see more film of Black in pass coverage. With excellent grades, and film to start of the year, Black seems like a prospect that college evaluators are sleeping on.

Commitments

Nick Simmons
2025 Ware Co.
Furman

Simmons is the beating heart of the vaunted Ware County defense and an All-State caliber defender in 4A. The linebacker is versatile, playing both inside and outside, where his speed coming off the edge creates a lot of pressure. Simmons is a high IQ football player, the hardest worker in the weight room at Ware County winning the Iron Man award last offseason, and has one of the best GPA’s on the team. He is a perfect fit for a high-academic school like Furman.

Three ‘n Out

Thomas Co. Central’s Jayden Rubbo has been great his senior year flying around and performing impactful tackles. Rubbo was a Preseason All-State selection for 5A, and is the team captain for the reigning state champions. Thomas Co. Central is our #2 team in 5A and the #7 team in our GHSA top 25. Rubbo’s film is explosive in the early season and will be a prospect to watch closely during the 2nd half of the year when the stakes are heightened.

Another 2025 DL is starting to blow up late in the recruiting process, and his name is Christian Ingram. The Newton defensive lineman stands 6’6″ and 280 lbs. He has earned offers from Alabama, Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Georgia State recently. Ingram is blowing up and will be among the most coveted defensive linemen in this recruiting class.

The AJC named SR Xavier Bostic a Preseason All-State selection in Class A, and the two-way athlete has more than lived up to the billing. Bostic has been a dominating defender who makes great fundamentally sound tackles in space while also hitting defense with long runs. Bostic looks to be a front-runner for Player of the Year in Class A. The 5’8″ 190 lbs. athlete currently has no offers at the moment, but the start to his senior year is so impressive, that we just have to imagine local programs will be all over him.
