One of the most electric seniors catching our attention at the start of this season is Griffin’s Cordae Alexander. It was during Week 1 that he returned a punt 80 yards for a score, but during Week 3, the explosive senior earned a spot in the Recruit Georgia Top 10.
Playing against Northgate, Alexander caught a pass on what looked like a routine play out to the sideline, gaining at most 10 yards, but the senior would not go down. One defender after another piled into tackle, but the elusive Alexander slipped away, breaking 4 tackles then sprinting down the sideline. Leaving the last defender in pursuit in the dust, despite having an angle.
“I’d describe the start of my senior year as exciting and meaningful because I know this is my last season of high school football. I’ve been trying to enjoy every moment and make the most of my final season with my teammates,” Alexander said.
Alexander has touched the ball 11 times this year on offense, accumulating 179 total yards and two touchdowns, along with his special teams prowess. He is the type of senior you look for in the first 3-4 games of the season. The SR is making electric plays with his speed and incredible balance, showing real, tangible potential (maybe an oxymoron) at the next level, especially on special teams.
No doubt, the electric playmaker has made a good deal of progress in the last year.
“As a wide receiver, I feel like I’ve improved the most with my route running, catching, releases, and overall confidence. I’ve also worked on becoming a more complete receiver by being a better blocker and doing whatever my team needs me to do to win,” he said.
Griffin is now 3-1 on the season, with their first loss coming in Week 4 against Stephenson. With region play now underway, they will be a tough team to face and should absolutely make a strong push deep into the playoffs.
“For the rest of my senior year, my goals are to keep improving every week, make big plays for my team, help us make a deep playoff run, and finish my high school career on a strong note. I want to leave everything on the field and make my last season one I’ll always remember,” he said.
Alexander earned offers from Reinhardt, Samford and Shorter during last offseason. At just 5’8″ and 155 lbs., he plays bigger than his listed frame. You simply don’t break that many tackles in a row to say otherwise, and when the season finishes, Alexander should have an impressive resume that college evaluators need to see.
