Cartersville is the unquestioned #1 team in 5A this season, and senior lineman Carter Levstek has been controlling the line of scrimmage, helping his team post a dominant 50 points per game. Each week, the 2027 blocker has impressed, and during Week 3, he was named OL of the Week on the site, the 2nd time Levstek has earned those honors over the last two seasons.
“The start of my senior year has been electric. It has been a solid start, but we are looking to grow together as teammates, and there is always room to improve. As an offensive lineman, I focus on physicality, consistency, and doing my job every snap. The team is 4-0, but we are still hungry for more,” Levstek said.
The powerful 6’5″ 315 lbs. blocker has taken his game to another level this season, using his insane 83″ wingspan to control defenders, getting underneath their pads and driving through his legs to create huge holes for one of the most productive offenses in Georgia.
And while Levstek looks at home at Cartersville, these are all new surroundings, so the senior talked about the adjustment transferring in from Mount Paran.
“The culture is different here. I think what makes Cartersville different is the combination of tradition, expectations, and support. Coach Foster puts it this way, “We are going to be a Championship Program in every way, on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.” The support from the community is special. They are always finding ways to help us succeed, and on Friday nights, it feels like the whole town is behind us. When you put that all together, it creates a special environment that has helped me grow as a player and a person, even in the short time I have been here.”
Levstek’s progress didn’t start during the season. The 2027 blocker worked hard this offseason, creating a plan with his trainers at Velocity Football and breaking down each little nuance of blocking so that he would be game-ready for 5A football.
“Since last season, I have improved the most in my pass protection technique. I spent a considerable amount of time focusing on winning the block before the ball is snapped. In the off season, I have been working diligently at Velocity Athlete Development and the game has slowed down for me, and I feel like I am moving better than I was before while playing with the same physicality,” he said.
No doubt, Levstek has turned a corner with his physicality and fully taking advantage of his size. That all starts above the shoulders, where Levstek’s mindset is all about dominating the competition.
“My mindset is to hunt. I want to be the most physical player on the field every snap. We set the tone for the offense up front, and I want to dominate every play. I want to do my job the best I can and put people on the ground. At the same time, I want to communicate, be disciplined, and compete as hard as I can.”
On the recruiting front, the senior said he is hearing from Auburn, Kennesaw, Georgia State, Chattanooga, and Tennessee Tech. Levstek even visited Auburn last weekend on the 12th against Southern Miss. He’s looking to set up more visits with Georgia State, Chattanooga, and Tennessee Tech in the coming weeks as well.
No doubt, playing championship-level football is going to have college evaluators gravitate towards your film. Plus, with a program that has so much winning tradition, including four state championships, the senior sees the importance of continuing that level of excellence.
“State Championship,” he said. “That is everyone’s goal this year. Personally, I want to continue to do my part week to week to help us get there, show colleges that I am hungry to develop, and to be a strong leader for my teammates. I have been so blessed to be able to be a part of this program, so I am focused on making every game count. Cartersville already has great facilities, great coaches, and great players—now we want 2026 on the bricks of Weinman Stadium like the other Cartersville State Champions.”
Cartersville has a BYE this week, then next week, on the 25th, they start region play against Villa Rica.
