Powerhouse Lee County is playing great football this season and is currently ranked the #2 team in Class 5A. They have played a tough schedule, but never balked, winning each game, and the intensity in the trenches has been a major advantage.
The Trojans are winning the battle up front, and senior lineman Jayden Daniels has been an imposing force. The 6’4″ 340 lbs. blocker has been an integral piece lining up primarily at LT, showing extremely light feet and forcefully brutal hands that have left defenders downed and defeated.
Daniels was voted the top OL for Week 11 after his tremendous blocks against Northside-WR. The senior was in his element, taking defenders to the turf, and playing his best football yet.
“My senior year is going great so far – 9-0 and region champions – just a great feeling to see my team’s hard work paying off and we all have bigger goals to come. So far I have 34 pancake-knock downs on the season,” he said.
Roll through his senior film at the top, and you’ll find an underrated blocker slipping through evaluators’ radar. Daniels has improved his explosiveness, and his physicality establishes the tone of the vaunted Lee County rushing attack.
“The two areas I think I personally got better in during the offseason were getting to the second and third levels, and just being a lot more physical. And I think a lot of that just comes from going to the weight room with my other teammates on off days and just putting in the extra work that the fans on Friday nights don’t see,” Daniels said.
The senior credits the Lee County coaching staff and how they prepare for each game. He talked about what makes their program among the best in the GHSA.
“A huge part of Lee County’s success is the coaching staff finding ways for us to individually get better every week and having physicality while doing it, even if it’s the smallest thing. That’s what separates us from most teams,” Daniels confirmed.
Lee County will have a target on its back heading into the playoffs. The class of ’25 has been one of the best groups in school history for the Trojans and experienced players like Daniels will have a large role in achieving their ultimate goals.
“My goals for the rest of the season are to be a great senior leader and do my job on and off the field. But overall I think the biggest goal for me and my team is to finish this season 15-0 with state rings and a trophy,” he said.
On the recruiting front, Daniels briefly talked about what colleges he is hearing from.
“I have been talking to Albany state, Clark Atlanta, etc… And this Saturday I plan on going to a game invite to Clark Atlanta University,” Daniels said.
The senior’s recruitment is moving fast, and just this afternoon Wayne State’s head coach Tyrone Wheatley gave Daniels an offer.
A move over to offensive guard will be an obvious transition for Daniels, and it is hard to deny how athletic the big 6’4″ 340 lbs. lineman moves. Lee County will even put Daniels in motion and overload one side to take advantage of his power and quickness.
The senior is one of the biggest sleeper IOL in this recruiting class, and considering his excellent 3.5 GPA, more D1 programs need to consider his services. Lee County is not dominating the line of scrimmage by accident.
Just like how Daniels displaces defenders on the field, his film is moving the needle and smart evaluators need to wake up. Be sure to follow our page @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on the senior and athletes across the state.
