The talented 6′ 200-pound running back from North Georgia chose Austin-Peay over offers from Mercer and Savannah State. Austin-Peay was the first college to offer the slashing running back and they made an in-home visit back on December 9th. The staff’s persistence paid off in the end, and the Govs were able to beat out a few Georgia squads for his services.
Austin-Peay is landing a very balanced running back with a versatile skill-set. He was a first team All-State selection here on Recruit Georgia after he ran for 1560 yards and 23 TD’s. During his varsity career Tanner has over 3 k total yards of offense for the Catamounts.
Last fall, the Dalton star led his team all the way to the state semifinals before losing to eventual state champion Valdosta. He has a slashing running style and utilizes his block excellently. Tanner has knack at getting the most yards possible and should thrive at the FCS level at Austin-Peay.
According to 247 sports Tanner is the 9th commit for Austin-Peay and is the first player from the state of Georgia to commit to the Governors.
