Custis Headed to Southeast Missouri State

Two time All-State running back Zion Custis announced his commitment earlier this week to Southeast Missouri State. The Class 6-A leading rusher took to Twitter to let everyone know his college destination.

Custis has been one of the biggest workhorse backs in the entire state of Georgia the last few years rushing for around 3500 yards over two seasons, and has carried the Lovejoy offense against some of the best defenses in their classification.

The senior smashed several records during his time at Lovejoy high school, and is arguably their most successful back in school history, which says a lot considering greats like Tashard Choice, Mario Fannin and his cousin Travis Custis. SE Missouri State is landing one of the pound-for-pound toughest players in the state of Georgia. For Custis, the game is not just physical, but also mental, and that is an aspect of the game that the 2018 recruit has already won before anyone takes steps off the bus.

Custis has been knocked for a lot of things by recruiting experts, but no one can question his heart, which is unmatched in the state of Georgia. He plays each game proving his doubters wrong, and will once again look to do that in college in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Watching the senior on film has always been entertaining. He is a savvy back who does a great job of reading his blocks, using his top end acceleration to get the most yards possible on each play. At the FCS level, we expect Custis to have a very successful 4 years, and to work his way in as the premier back.

Custis has been signed up with Recruit Georgia for over 3 years, and has over 100,000 social media impression on Twitter during that span. His profile is one of the most viewed in site history. The senior played in the Rising Senior Game junior year, won MVP of the MCA Senior Year, and was voted Region 4 Offensive Player of the Year. He chose Southeast Missouri State over offers from Tuskegee, Alabama State and several other programs.
