Creekview Star Talks Recruitment

Creekview’s star defender Isaac Hubert is coming off an excellent season where he earned All-State on the website. Hubert has seen his recruitment continue to trend up and he gave us an update right at the start of the evaluation period.

Who all has offered you?

“Currently, I have offers from Air Force, Army, Navy, UAB, Jacksonville State, Mercer, and Fordham.”

Where have you visited? Do you have more visits planned soon?

“I have visited Air Force, Navy, Harvard, Appalachian State, and Georgia Southern. I don’t currently have any additional visits planned for this spring, but I look forward to taking all five of my official visits this fall.”

What are your goals for spring practice?

“This spring, I’m really looking forward to stepping into the senior leadership role. We graduated a lot of talent from last year’s team, and I just want to set a good example for our young guys coming in to fill those spots. We’ve got a great tradition of success at Creekview, and I just really want to lead by example and continue that tradition moving forward.”

Where are you camping this summer?

“I haven’t currently set my summer camp schedule. My focus has really been preparing for spring football up to this point while playing lacrosse. I think once I see where I stand with a few schools that have reached out about coming to see spring practice, I will make my decision on what camps I’m going to attend.”

When would you like to make a decision?

“My general plan is to commit prior to the start of this season. I honestly enjoy playing football a lot more than the recruitment process. I think finding a home on a team with a solid coaching staff, a school with high academics, and a chance to compete early is my ultimate goal. I already have some very strong schools that have offered, and I think once I decide I’ve found my home, I’ll know when it’s time to commit. I would love to just be able to focus on helping this group get back to the playoffs and being as successful as possible in my last run at Creekview.”

The Scoop

The rising senior is football-oriented on the field, but also a terrific student with a 4.0 GPA, 1240 SAT, and 26 on the ACT. He’s a smart defender with a good bit of flexibility both rushing the passer or playing out wide in pass coverage as well. Hubert thrives playing off the edge and was able to total 100 tackles and 18 tackles for a loss on the season which also earned him Region Defensive Player of the Year on top of our All-State selection. At 6’2″ and 230 lbs., Hubert hits with authority and does a nice job of driving his feet through the tackle attempt. Hubert’s motor on the field never stops, and he will pursue the ball carrier until the whistle is blown. You have to love the ferocity with which he plays; Hubert parries off blockers and gets them off balance with ease.

The coaching staff over at Creekview absolutely love the young man and they speak really highly of his character. Big picture, there is a lot to like when you analyze this student-athlete. We think he is set for a big fall, and don’t be surprised to see him running the football some on offense after an impressive showing in the playoffs.
