Looking back at the 2016 season Class AA seemed like the classification that we had the best handle on. Heading into this season there will be more parity than ever before, and that in large part has to do with the immense talent across the classification.

Rabun County’s Bailey Fisher gets the nod at preseason All-State quarterback. The class of 2018 QB is a magician in the backfield where he threw for 2672 yards, a 70.9% completion, 29 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions. He also tacked on an additional 1029 yards on the ground and 21 touchdowns. Fisher finished last year with a whopping 3700 yards and 50 touchdowns to go along with the 2nd best QBR of 137.7.

Jasquiz Rucker from Elbert County was a state leader last year with 1700 rushing yards but remains a big sleeper in Georgia in large part due to his complete lack of Hudl film. He averaged 156.7 yards per game and 9.7 yards per carry. KeShawn Morgan is a workhorse for Toombs County who can run around, over, and through a defense. He piled up 1697 yards and averaged 154.3 yards per game to go along with 21 touchdowns. Last season’s Class AA rushing leader DJ Atkins had an outrageous 306 carries on for 2307 yards and 15 touchdowns. The lightening quick back also had 181 yards receiving and fell just short of 2500 total yards.

Tyquan Johnson is at the top of the wide receivers in Class AA. He is returning from last season where he had 822 yards and 13 touchdowns. His elite speed allowed him to average 25.7 yards per catch. Tyleek Collins moved up to Atlanta and is now at Hapeville Charter after totaling over 2k yards at Benedictine the last few seasons. The do-it-all athlete is an elite playmaker, and should be a classification leader in all-purpose yards. Rory Starkey is another wide receiver from Hapeville who made the list. He was a favorite target for Class AA passing leader Hajj-Malik Williams last season where he caught 46 passes (highest returning total in class AA) and 762 yards. The last wide receiver spot goes Travis Blackshear, who is now looking at a ton of touches for this upcoming season at Benedictine. Last season the electrifying athlete totaled 1006 yards and 9 TD’s on the ground and through the air. He can take it to the house from almost anywhere on the field.  Katerian Legrone at B.E.S.T. Academy is our selection at tight end. He is an excellent receiver, and last fall he totaled 671 yards, 20.3 yard per reception and 7 touchdowns. He has 13 FBS offers at this point, including a Power 5 in Syracuse.

Dodge County OL Tre’Shaun Hodge is a beast at 6’4″ 328 pounds. His 405 pound bench press ranks near the top in Georgia, and he typically caves in his side of the line of scrimmage. Keiondre Jones is one of the most talented offensive lineman in Georgia regardless of age or classification. The 2019 Callaway student-athlete has an explosive first step, while also showing elite fundamentals. He also plays with a ton of hustle making key downfield blocks. Ousman Traore is a wide-bodied 6’3″ 320 pound lineman out of Hapeville Charter.  He demonstrates really strong hands, and looks especially comfortable in pass coverage. Gordon Central lineman Fletcher Morris is a no-nonsense lineman who hastily gets his man on the turf. At 6’4″ 265 he has good length to be effective in pass coverage as well. Willie Green from Glenn Hills dominated defensive lineman last year. He gets after it and shows solid technique keeping his back flat. Dustin Pope is the last offensive lineman to make our Class AA team. The 6’6″ 315 lineman is a workout warrior benching 405 pounds and paved the way for two +1000 yard rushers last season.

Rabun County’s senior kicker Andrew Barnes is our preseason pick after he connected on 9 of 10 field goals last season. His long last season was from 45 yards. Temple punter Brad Corbitt averaged 38.6 yards per punt last season. He kicked 3 inside the 20 and had a long of 51 yards.

Last season’s All-State athlete selection James Graham returns for his senior year after leading Fitzgerald to the state championship game the last two seasons. This fall could be very special for Graham, as we expect the offense to open up more, and for him to really thrive as the leader of the Purple Hurricanes. Washington County junior Dyquan Bloodsaw is our returner. Last year he was a blur out there on the field and can hit full speed in a blink of an eye.

Moving over the defensive side of the ball, which is led of by Kingsley Enagbare from Hapveille Charter. The 6’4″ 255 defensive end had a breakout year as a junior and we think he’ll be almost unblockable in Class AA. He is a ball magnet at the line of scrimmage making a lot of pass break ups. Callaway senior Lichon Terrell was once a linebacker but is now up to 270 pounds and has his hand in the ground. He is very agile for his size and can make plays anywhere on the field. CJ Wright (6′ 297 lbs) is the strongest player we have seen in the state of Georgia. Last season he did it all totaling 49 tackles, 10 for a loss, while also carrying the ball for 1044 yards (7.7 ypc) and 21 touchdowns. Another Screven County defender expected to standout this year is Kendrick Cox. The lanky athlete led defensive linemen with 98 tackles last fall and 15 tackles for loss. Last season Douglass senior Quintavius Gooden led the classification with over 21 tackles for loss to along with 12 sacks. The 6’2″ 190 athlete plays a hybrid role and is an emphatic tackler.

Fitzgerald linebacker Donterious Milsap is the best linebacker you have not heard of. He has excellent size at 6’2″ 220 pounds and played out of his mind in the state title game collecting tackles left and right. Douglass linebacker Travis Byars had 105 tackles last season – 77 of those were the solo variety. He is a gut-busting hitter with outstanding acceleration. Southwest-Macon junior Randy Green is the returning tackle leader in the Class AA with 150 tackles (13.6 tackles per game). He is a natural at linebacker with elite field vision and a punishing hitter. Senior Davonte Webster out of Spencer has sideline-to-sideline speed. The big hits on his film just never seem to stop either.

Cornerback Jaden Moreland is a big hitter with elite ball skills to boot. The 2018 Heard County athlete plays both ways and has 7 FBS offers. Elbert County’s Tay Huff did a little bit of everything last season playing quarterback, wide receiver, and cornerback. He is a textbook tackler, has elite quickness, and does a great job of playing the ball over top. Christopher Smith out of Hapeville Charter did not give up one receiving touchdown last season. His tentacle-like arms give him a wide radius to break up passes. Courtney Williams from Callaway has a long body at 6’2″ and does a great of gauging the pass mid-air. His elite acceleration allows him to cover a lot of space from his safety spot. Charlie Thomas is the last selection for the preseason All-State team. He is a leader for Thomasville and his elite field vision, to go along with his general knack for the game of football.
