Clarke Central’s Brown is a Playmaker

One of the top safeties in the class of 2017 in Georgia is Zay Brown (RG Profile). The Clarke Central safety does an incredible job flowing to the ball and anticipating passes thrown all across the field. He delivers bone-crushing hits and has terrific acceleration that stands out on film.

Brown spoke with us a month ago about his expectation for this fall season and his recruitment.

“My expectations this season is to lead the team and be one of the guys they can rely on, and show the country that I’m one of the top safeties in class of 2017 if not the best, and I will work until it’s shown!”

COzeNX0VAAA8V92One goal that the aggressive hard-hitting defensive back would like to achieve: “The team goal is to make it to the Georgia Dome and get Clarke Central back how it used to be.” That’s a tall order for 2-3 Clarke Central, which has suffered close losses all year long, but making the playoffs is all that truly matters. Clarke Central plays region foe Flowery Branch this Friday.

On the recruiting side of things, Brown told us some of the South’s most dominant programs have expressed interest.

“UGA, FSU, Clemson, GT, NC State have all showed interest and I’m visiting all those schools this fall, I have no offers but (I’m) working real hard to get them!”

One thing colleges like about Brown is how hard he works to hone his skills.

“I’m working on my 1 on 1 man coverage so I can play man on the slot more easily, I can always get more physical so I try to be the most physical guy on the field because no one likes a physical football player.”

For now, Brown claims no favorite among colleges but insinuated the first one to offer would stand out.
