CJ Burress Commits to the Golden Flashes

Lanier’s senior defensive back CJ Burress announced yesterday that he will playing his college ball at Kent State. The playmaking safety took to Twitter to make his commitment official.

Burress (5’10” 190) had a slew of mid-major offers to choose from after his recruitment blew up in the spring evaluation period. Kent State ultimately won out, beating Georgia State and Ball State for his services.

The class of ’17 prospect is a ball-hawk on the field and has the versatility to play multiple positions. Burress simply makes plays, and once the ball is in his hands he is more than capable of returning it back for a score.

Burress was an All-Region and County player for Lanier HS’s vaunted defense. He is a smart athlete and showcases outstanding acceleration when breaking on a pass. He is proficient in zone coverage, but also capable of manning up on the slot or tight end.

Kent State picked up a real sleeper with Burress’s commitment. He is the 8th commit for the Golden Flashes for the 2017 recruiting cycle and the first player from Georgia.
