Brown is a Rock Solid Blue Devil Commit

Brittain Brown hosted Duke Blue Devil coaches David Cutcliffe and Jeff Faris on January 19th.

XAWr2HIGKeith Brown, Brittain’s father, let Recruit Georgia know the visit went very well. While feasting on savory southern cooking, the Duke coaches complimented Brittain on his outstanding character. The Cherokee community is very proud of Brittain and made sure the Duke coaches knew of his exploits.

And rightfully so. The athlete from Cherokee was a force to be reckoned with last fall. He was voted by the Georgia Sportswriters All State 1st Team, selected Region Offensive Player of the Year, and was invited to the Atlanta TD Club banquet after being selected to the Metro Atlanta All-Star team.

An impressive list of accolades for the star running back. Statistically speaking, he was one of the state leaders in rushing and through 9 games this season he had totaled nearly 1700 yards of total offense on only 187 carries with 18 scores.

The Duke coaches did an outstanding job with Brown’s recruitment. Stanford (offered on the day he committed) and GT sniffed around but were too late for the Cherokee star last spring. He committed on May 6 and has been a rock-solid commit ever since.

Duke is getting a great football player, who we think will make an immediate impact in the ACC. He improved his explosiveness before his senior year (ran a sub 4.5 at the VTO combine last year), which you could see on his senior film.

There was a definitive speed jump in Brown’s senior year. He was blowing by defenders with ease and averaged nearly 9 yards per carry. He also has incredible balance. Defender after defender would attempt to knock Brown off his feet, but his innate ability to stay upright is something to behold.

The senior from Cherokee is also a serious student athlete, with an almost a 4.0 GPA and 26 ACT score.

Duke currently has 6 commits from Georgia, mostly based around the metro-Atlanta area.
