Breakout Junior Year for Wilson Catoe

Junior linebacker Wilson Catoe has been a breakout player this year for Peachtree Ridge. Moving over this year from the offensive line to linebacker was an interesting transition, but one that Catoe has been groomed for.

Our staff first saw Catoe at the NUC South Showcase back on April of 2015 where he won the linebacker MVP in his class, so his seamless transition to defense comes to no surprise. In fact, the hard hitting linebacker is the tackle for loss leader for his team. No play was more important than the game-clinching sack Catoe had against North Gwinnett in overtime.

Big plays like the one mentioned above is a big reason why schools like Western Carolina, Baylor, TCU and NC State have been in contact. College scouts have told Recruit Georgia that they really like his frame to play outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense.

Catoe is a really smart player who does a great job of reading the quarterback’s eyes. He drops back in to coverage quickly and keeps his hips on a swivel to play as fast as he can.

The Peachtree Ridge junior is a very good student touting a 3.85 GPA while also making rock-solid test scores with a 24 on the ACT and 1130 on the SAT. He is a hard-worker and we expect him to continue to make solid progress in the weight room so he can fill out his 6’1.5″ frame.
