Banneker’s Allen Flying Under the Radar

The last athlete to win play of the week in 2024 was Banneker’s speedster, Kelian Allen. The explosive junior talked with me shortly after the season, so while some of his answers are outdated, the latest track times are not. In fact, they are lightning-fast.

Allen ran a 10.41 100m time over the weekend, ranking him near the tops in the state of Georgia. The junior mentioned his 100m time being a priority going into the offseason.

“My goal for this offseason is to run a 10.7 in the 100-meter dash. Go to state for track and get over 5 D1 offers in football plus keep my grades high,” Allen exclaimed.

Allen was one of the top returners in the state of Georgia and managed to account for a lot of yardage for Banneker.

“My junior year was amazing best so far. Final stats: 151 carries, 1008 rushing yards, 15 touchdowns total, all-purpose yards 1454, 9x player of the game and my kick return yards were 354 yards; 2nd in state for special teams,” he said.

The 5’9″ athlete weighs around 170 lbs. at the moment, and honestly, reminds us of Chad Alexander out of Archer from the class of ’23. Allen has good natural balance breaking through tackles, and filling out his frame should help the 2026 back get more yards after contact.

The standout speed puts him well above his peers, and he just looks so smooth as he strides away from the defense. No doubt, the 2026 athlete is one of the fastest in the state of Georgia, and his latest 100m time confirms it.

Credit to Allen, who outlined all of the changes he has made over the last year to his game.

“I improved over the summer when I started lifting crazy and got extremely strong and faster and able to carry the ball,” he said.

With the offseason well underway, Allen will have more time to pack on the weight and aggregate coaches’ attention.
