Arkansas State Lands Big Player in Taylor

Arkansas State pulled in an early commit to their 2018 recruiting class yesterday when Grayson rising senior Ryan Taylor committed. The powerful lineman took to Twitter to make his announcement known across the web.

Taylor received an offer from Arkansas State on Feb. 27, and it was his relationship with the staff and the intensity that the Red Wolves’ defensive line plays with that really made them standout.

“My lead recruiter was (Coach Norval) McKenzie, the running back coach. Also (Coach Brian) Early and the d-line stood out to me, because honestly, I play that role—they’re physically imposing, fast tempo whenever they’re on the field.” Taylor continued, “They bring energy to the whole defense and it reminds me of my brothers and I at Grayson.”

For some recruits, they just seem to know what they are looking for in a school and commit early. Taylor, who was being pursued by multiple schools including Coastal Carolina and Wake Forest, knew that Arkansas State was the right place almost right away.

“The first time I stepped on the field I knew it was home. The school is great.”

The Grayson defensive tackle is currently ranked the No. 139 player in our North Georgia Top 250. He is a run-stuffer up the middle, occupying a lot of space, while also displaying outstanding fundamentals and leverage playing nose tackle in Grayson’s 3-4 defense.

Heading into his senior year, the hard-working defensive tackle said he would like to continue to perfect his craft and become the best football player he can be. The Rams will be entering 2017 as the reigning state champions for the highest classification in Georgia. Taylor is the first commit for Arkansas State in the Class of 2018 according to 247 Sports’ database.
