Last year Milton had arguably the top offensive line in the state of Georgia that was loaded with senior D1 talent across the board. They were going to need some fresh faces to step up here in 2022, so enter senior offensive lineman Evan Zapata.
At 6’4″ and 260 lbs. class of ’23 prospect has consistently quality film where he dominates the competition and certainly seems to be flying under the radar from our evaluation.
“My senior year is going good. We are 4-3 but we are 2-0 in region and we plan on continuing our winning streak through the playoffs,” Zapata said.
Milton’s strength of schedule has to be one of the toughest of any team in the state playing against teams across the country in the early season, and that battle-tested element has helped players like Zapata really grow into their own. A few colleges have taken notice.
“Recruiting has been good for my first year starting I have two offers one to berry college and one to st ambrose university. I plan on going d1 so I’m hoping this will help with that,” Zapata said.
That’s a solid start for a first-year starter, but we feel that his recruitment could really turn a corner soon. Zapata has excellent leg drive while blocking and does a good job with his hands getting inside the defender. We really like his activity as a blocker, and just last week he was named to our Bully Squad.
His relentless nature when blocking is hard to miss, and we really like Zapata at the next level. He shows nice versatility swinging across the LOS and we really think the senior is among the biggest sleepers left in the class of ’23 offensive linemen.
