Week 6 Power Rankings

Week 5 came and went. The deck was re-shuffled again, and heading into the midpoint of the season we have new rankings. A few new #1’s have been added – first starting with Lowdnes in 7-A. The Vikings destroyed national ranked Miami Northwestern leading 35-7 at halftime and eventually winning 48-21. Right now, they look to have the best defense in the state. In Class A Public Irwin salted away the game vs Clinch winning 14-0, which resulted in a complete flip between the two schools at #1 and #2. For the first time since the inception of this site, Calhoun drops from our rankings after North Murray beat them 35-7. It was their first region loss since 2001. Lastly, and not to be forgotten, ELCA lost to Holy Innocents’ 42-41 in overtime. Holy Innocents’ Michael Cox had 4 touchdowns, 40 carries and over 200 yards of offense, which earned him GHSFD Player of the Week. Senior back looked like he was on a mission running over defenders, definitely one of the best uncommited backs from the class of 2020 still available.

Now for the usual spiel: we have added a ‘Bubble’ section for teams just on the cusp of being in the Power Rankings and also an ‘Out’ to signify teams that have just recently been removed from the rankings.
