Here are the Week 1 standouts from our weekend research. We have a quick write-up on each of the 10 athletes who we have selected with individual game film included, if possible.
We also have a poll for our Player of the Week directly underneath that will end Tuesday at 10 p.m. You can only vote once per hour! The winner will get a featured story on the website and a custom highlight video.
Ben Brown
SR Wesleyan
Quarterback
Brown threw for 385 yards and 6 touchdowns in their 42-21 victory over Commerce. He was surgical reading the defense and showing nice footwork avoiding the pressure in the pocket. The 6’2″ 190 lbs. senior led Wesleyan to a 9-4 record last fall and is surrounded by a lot of talent across the board at Wesleyan. They should prove to be one of the best teams in the newly formed 3A-A Private playoff this fall. Brown is one of the active passing yard leaders in the state with 5832 in his career and is widely thought to be one of the biggest sleeper QBs in the state of Georgia. He throws a great deep ball and consistently puts the football on the money deep downfield for momentum-swinging scores.
Jadyn Carr
JR Monroe Area
Running Back
Jadyn “Jitt” Carr is already the frontrunner to win the Play of the Week on the site after making a wild 78-yard touchdown run where he escaped out of several tacklers. That one play accounted for a fraction of his rushing total though. Carr ended the 49-20 route over Loganville with 324 yards and 3 touchdowns on the night. The 5’9″ 185 lbs. back is shifty in tight spaces with the ability to step out of a cut and dodge a tackler on a dime. Carr figures to be a large part of the Monroe Area offense, so he will be one to watch in 2024.
Travis Smith Jr.
SR Westlake
Wide Receiver
The electrifying senior receiver out of Westlake had 267 yards receiving on 9 receptions and two touchdowns in their loss to Hughes the other night. Smith, who committed to Tennessee over the summer, showed off his elite playmaking and size to win several 50/50 plays and then showed the wheels to burn the rest of the defense. Smith is a Preseason All-State selection on the website and is well on his way to a 1k-yard season.
Will Rajecki
JR Sequoyah
Running Back
Sequoyah edged out Denmark to start the season 38-35 and junior running back Will Rajecki served an important role in the victory. The explosive back had a total of 212 yards of offense with 170 coming on the ground and 42 more off the reception. The junior found the endzone 3 times. Rajecki has reactive feet with the ability to step out of a tackle and shows good elusive instincts in tight spaces. The versatile playmaker is set for a big season and is one to watch this fall.
Katrell Webb
JR Collins Hill
Edge
Webb had a huge 4 sack game in their 20-19 upset win over Grayson. The explosive 6’3″ 240 lbs. edge defender caused a pivotal forced fumble on one of his sacks. The junior played fantastic and Collins Hill has elevated themselves into the top 10 of 6A. The 2026 prospect is not a new name to the recruiting world and holds double-digit P4 offers at the moment with programs like FSU, GT, Michigan, LSU & more in pursuit.
Jamarion McKinney
JR Dutchtown
Wide Receiver
Dutchtown put the smackdown on Stockbridge winning 47-28 and junior Jamarion McKinney was electric with 9 catches for 143 yards and 4 touchdowns. The 6′ and 176 lbs. playmaker ran nice routes, putting defensive backs on skates and allowing himself to get open for Dutchtown’s savvy junior passer Mike Johnson. McKinney does a great job of going over the middle and will take his lumps, but showed sure hands in Week 1. His recruitment has not taken off yet, but we are encouraged by his excellent first game of the season.
Kamauri Johnson
JR Seminole Co.
Running Back
One of the shockers last weekend was Seminole County beating Schley 32-14. Junior running Kamauri Johnson led the way with 194 yards on just 14 carries and 1 touchdown. The 2026 running back has been named All-Region in both his freshman and sophomore seasons, so the performance does not come as a complete shocker, but against Schley County, a program that has become a perennial contender in Class A, it will surprise most. Regardless, the powerful 6′ 190 lbs. running back did a great job of running through his pads and showing elite determination to break tackles and get additional yardage. Seminole County is ranked on the website for the first time.
Leshawn Stuckey
SR Banneker
Linebacker
The upsets continue from last weekend with Banneker taking out Osborne 22-21 and SR linebacker Leshawn Stuckey had himself a game. The standout senior totaled 15 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss with 2 forced fumbles, one of which he took back 82 yards for a score. The 6’2″ 225 lbs. linebacker is explosive shooting the gaps of the defense and is an impactful tackler. Considering he has a few low-level college offers, Stuckey appears to be one of the biggest sleepers in the state of Georgia at the moment.
Cole Runion
SR Ringgold
Defensive Back
Ringgold’s Cole Runion had 3 interceptions and a forced fumble in their 23-13 victory over Dade Co. The 6′ senior used his quickness to dart in front of one errant pass, then another where he caught the ball essentially sitting on the ground, and the interception he high-pointed while getting depth in his zone coverage. Runion also made a few nice tackles in space that saved a good chunk of yardage. The senior is looking to build off his excellent junior campaign where he averaged 8.2 tackles per game and was All-Region. After last Friday, he’s off to a good start.
Cody Bryan
JR Heritage-Catoosa
Wide Receiver
One of the top performers of the week goes to Cody Bryan out of Heritage-Catoosa. The 2026 athlete had 258 yards receiving on 10 taches with touchdowns. On defense, Bryan had one of the top plays of the week where he stripped the football away from a receiver, and pivoted upfield for his 4th score of the night. Bryan was an All-Region selection as a sophomore and one of the top kick returners in the state. We have big expectations for the playmaker this fall, and he should start to jump onto college recruiting boards. Unfortunately, no film from the game so far, aside from a few clips on Twitter/X.
