Karekin “KK” Brooks, a class of 2016 running back from Walton High School, committed to the University of Pennsylvania yesterday evening. He spurned many FCS and Ivy League schools, who also covet the talented back from Cobb County. Brooks looks once again to be a very important piece for the Raiders’ offensive attack this fall.
Walton’s recruiting coach, Monty Bumper, spoke with us via Twitter about Brooks and his character: “(He) is a Warrior, he shows up and just works.”
“He is a very good football player, but an even better person.”
Penn certainly has landed a steal at running back, and Coach Bumper said as much: “Penn is getting one of the best backs in the state. We are looking forward to (Karekin) having a great year.”
Expectations will be high for Brooks and the Walton community. He lived in the weight room this fall and is now up to 210 pounds. Fourteen Walton players have been offered this year, including 11 with multiple offers. Brooks joins Kennesaw State commit Forrest Evans as the lone Walton commits, but we anticipate more this fall.
Last season was a pedestrian year for Walton High School, which for decades watched a consistently winning program. Brooks figures to be one of the main offensive weapons behind Walton’s resurgence this 2015 season.
