Recruiting Buzz

MIECdRV0Chris Bacon
is a talented safety from New Manchester who impressed Recruit Georgia over the offseason at an NUC camp last spring. A play that stood out from the camp was Bacon breaking off his man and stripping the ball from Tennessee wide receiver commit TaDarryl Marshall. He has done well this season and looks impressive in both coverage and run support. Indiana seems very interested as of late and continues to send the talented safety mail. RG Profile

Ashton Hughes and Jay Holston visited Charlotte on Saturday. The longtime friends played with each other growing up, but Hughes transferred to Community Christian this season and is playing on defense. Holston is an impressive back who was offered over the summer by Florida and has had a very strong season rushing the ball.

A big group of Mill Creek players visited Louisville this weekend. Louisville offensive line commit Robbie Bell, Sidney Otiwu (2016 OLB), Joe Thomas (2017 RB), Tyler Fannin (2017 C) and Jonathan Gipson (2018 CB) all attended the game. The undefeated Mill Creek squad is loaded with talent and Power 5 schools are beginning to recruit the school heavily.

CSHg5RfUAAAp4tTGrayson’s Owen Pappoe and Griffin’s Tru Thompson, both elite freshmen, attended the Georgia Tech vs. Florida State game on Saturday. The elite freshmen received double digit offers from elite football schools in the South before their high school careers had even begun.

Senior Mikal Marble received his first offer from Cincinnati Christian. We spoke with Mikal earlier in the year about this season and his recruitment. Marble also visited Georgia State earlier this October and could possibly be a target with his 6’3″ frame at FS. RG Profile

Grayson’s 2017 prospect Ellison Hubbard continues to collect ACC offers, with Wake Forest being the most recent. The athletic DL is really impressive and could grow to be a DT or SDE at the next level. FILM

Junior safety Zane Ashley had a big night over once undefeated Norcross. The playmaking safety had eight tackles and a sack in a 31-0 route over the Blue Devils. Ashley spent the following afternoon visiting Vanderbilt. He let Recruit Georgia know that his next visit will be at Duke this Saturday.

CSJOSPpWEAIojZnStratford Academy’s star receiver Quintez Cephus visited Georgia Tech this Saturday. This was just following a Wisconsin offer and official visit over the last few weeks. The Yellow Jackets could be looking for another WR and Cephus’ FILM this fall has been very impressive. He tweeted afterward saying “GT was crazy today.”

Douglas Co. TE Aaron Cauthen visited Mercer over the weekend. The 6’5″ athlete has been touring the Southeast viewing different colleges.

Cole Ragon, Mill Creek’s long snapper, visited Reinhardt on Saturday. Via Twitter: “Awesome visit to @R_U_Football! It was great to see Coach Scott again!”

Bulloch Academy’s Corique Williams said he had a great visit to Western Carolina. He’s a well-built athlete who runs with good pad level and is a threat with the ball with his hands. SR FILM

For a final Grayson recruiting tidbit, Demetrios Mason was offered by Georgia State yesterday. The wide receiver for Grayson has had a good season and displays true break-away speed at the Class AAAAAA level.

Class of 2017 Norcross QB Max Tracy visited Georgia Tech on Saturday, as well. The Blue Devil signal-caller has split snaps most of the year at QB but has good athleticism. Tracy ran a 4.49 at an NUC camp over the summer and has potential to play QB at the next level.
