All-State Performer Akileis Leroy Commits to FAU

Akileis Leroy, one of the most hard-hitting players in the state of Georgia, committed to Florida Atlantic over the weekend. The Lee County football Twitter page made a tweet announcing his commitment:

Leroy is a fairly large recruiting pickup for the Owls. He at one point was offered by LSU over the summer after being a top performer at the camp. The All-State selection is built like a brick house and pound-for-pound is one of the strongest players in Georgia.

He had a massive senior year at Lee County where he roamed the middle of their defense playing middle linebacker. Leroy’s sheer power on the field is evident within the first seconds of watching his film. He plays the game with a relentless motor, and when the 6′, 235-pound linebacker hits full steam, he can nearly dismantle the ball-carrier.

New FAU head coach Lane Kiffin has always recruited the state of Georgia well, and we expect him to be all over the Peach State in the coming years. Leroy is just the beginning of the talent heading over to the Owls, and he should be an impact player in Conference USA delivering slobber-knockers to unsuspecting ball-carriers.

Leroy is the 13 the commitment for FAU in the class of 17 and the 2nd from the state of Georgia.
