Heading into this season, Mincey was ready to make a name for himself. The senior back split carries behind All-State running back Justin Powell for Toombs County in 2025 and was biting at the opportunity to get the lion’s share of the carries.
“The start of my senior season has been great, and a fun time with my teammates. I feel like I’ve put the state on notice a little, considering nobody really knew who I was just a year ago,” Mincey said.
Just through 3 games this season, and Mincey has accomplished so much. Through three seasons at Toombs County, Mincey has rushed for 806 yards, and through 3 games he has put up 628 yards and 15 touchdowns. Unbelievable, considering Mincey’s varsity experience, but the talent at Toombs County is just so deep that he provided more of a supplementary role.
Last week, Mincey rushed for 225 yards on 29 carries and scored all seven of his team’s touchdowns in a 49-21 win over Swainsboro. The terrific effort broke the school’s single-game scoring record, and he was also voted Player of the Week on the website.
When talking about the season, Mincey’s focus is directed toward winning another state championship. The program has been to the last Class A titles, but with reclassification, the deck has been shuffled with Toombs County now in 3A.
“First of all, my goal this year is to win a State Championship with my guys; all of the personnel accomplishments will follow,” he said.
On the recruiting front, Mincey committed to Georgia State over the summer and talked about his relationship with the RB coach.
“I chose Georgia State because I have a great relationship with Coach Enrique Davis and the rest of the staff, and they also recruited me heavily,” he said.
Coach Davis and Georgia State jumped into Mincey’s recruitment early. Then in the spring, Mincey had a few standout performances at camps where he posted elite measurements like a 10’4″ broad jump, a 4.46 40 time, and a 7.03 L-drill. That sent schools over the edge with offers, including Georgia State, which officially sent Mincey a scholarship on May 20th. Almost exactly a month later, on June 26th, Mincey committed to the Panthers.
With the incredible start to the season, there is no doubt more FBS colleges have made contact with the 5’10”, 190-lb. running back, but even so, he was at Georgia State for the first game of the season.
