Savon Simmons Chooses Kennesaw State

MORE COMMITMENT NEWS

Kennesaw State picked up a big commitment a few days back when they received the word from Sandy Creek’s Savon Simmons. The powerful blocker from Metro Atlanta made his commitment official to the local program when he announced on Twitter a few nights back:

The senior played outstanding this season paving the way for one of the top rushing attacks in the state of Georgia. He chose the Owls over offers from Western Carolina, Southern, Presbyterian, The Citadel, Campbell and Stetson.

Kennesaw State came into the picture over the fall and offered Simmons on December 16th. The staff made him a priority after the offer and sent close to half of the staff to Simmons’ place for a recent in-home visit.

Landing the powerful run-blocking guard is a big signing for the run-heavy option attack that the Owls implement. He’s really athletic, can pull across the line of scrimmage or get to the second level and can deliver a punishing block. He has really strong hands, which he uses to get excellent leverage on the lineman, and he is great at finishing his blocks.

Simmons is the seventh commitment for Kennesaw State for the Class of ’17 and the sixth player from Georgia to sign with the Owls.
