Recruiting Update for Kyle McLaren

Kyle McLaren is a rising junior out of Northgate High School who is on the precipice of becoming a coveted quarterback prospect.

Last season the Northgate quarterback put up an impressive stat line completing 54 passes out of 102 attempts, while gaining 1,052 yards and 16 TDs. McLaren led Northgate to the state semifinals, and his breakout season earned him the County Newcomer of the Year.

Kyle McLarenMcLaren spoke to Recruit Georgia about what he has been doing to upgrade his skill set.

“I’ve been working on footwork and perfecting my release with my quarterbacks coach Joe Hamilton,” he said.

The signal-caller just recently scored a 25 on the ACT, but with school in the rear-view mirror for the time being, his focus is on impressing at college camps: “So far, I have been invited to these camps: Middle Tennessee, Troy, NC State, Old Dominion, Marshall, Mercer, University of West Georgia and Valdosta State.”

McLaren believes that his “intelligence on the field and ability to read defenses” is what separates him from his peers. He demonstrates good leadership skills organizing workouts with his teammates in the offseason.

Leading Northgate far into the playoffs as a sophomore is no small feat, but McLaren plans to only build on that this summer.

“I’m looking forward to a busy summer,” McLaren concluded.
