Heating Up

Oscar Delp
2022 West Forsyth

Following a two touchdown performance where the 6’5″ 220 lbs. tight end also showed solid blocking prowess was a bevvy of offers. Michigan was ahead of that pack presenting his first offer, but several P5’s followed up in the days following. Virginia Tech, Utah, Georgia Tech, Michigan State and Boston College have all offered now. The class of 2022 is loaded with some of the top tight ends in the country here in Georgia, and it looks like Delp is quickly confirming his rank among those recruits. Expect his recruitment to continue to blow up here over the next few weeks.

Sleeper of the Day

Taylor Smith
2021 Wheeler

Smith’s 90 tackle season earned him All-Region. He made several spectacular plays in 2019, one was a punt where he blocked it then returned the football for another 30 yards for a score. Another was an interception that he took back over 80 yards. Going through his film, and his impact in coverage is pretty obvious. He had 3 interceptions on the year, several pass breakups too. Smith hustles his tail off and hits with impact. Has good instincts reading the play. He doesn’t miss a beat on misdirection and does a good job of honing in on the ball carrier. Good tackler too, gets the ball carrier down quickly. Pretty strong player in general, definitely more physical than a sub 180 lbs. player typically is. Smith should fit in nicely into a nickle based defense playing close to the LOS. He has good instincts in zone coverage and tackling plus hustle is really impressive. Charleston Southern appears to be the top program recruiting him at the moment – we think more D1 schools will jump over the next few months here.
