Recruiting Recap 9/30

Welcome to another edition of the recruiting recap! Thanks for stopping by, and if you are new here, this is a feature that attempts to cover all of the offers across the state of Georgia over the last 24 hours, a player who is heating up and of course our sleeper of the day.

We have a 2022 database update, so college programs reach out on Twitter or recruitgeorgia1@gmail.com for additional information.

Commitments

Kayin Lee
2023 Cedar Grove
Georgia

Scoop: Lee is the best cover corner in this recruiting class, but also physical as can be making elite open field tackles look routine.

Elijah Pritchett
2022 Carver-Columbus
Alabama

Scoop: Pritchett is the most athletic OL in the state for the class of 2022. He insane combination of speed and size gives the senior Sunday upside.

Heating Up

Jacarrius Peak
2022 Valdosta

The 6’6″ 300 lbs. offensive lineman has seen his recruitment take off over the last 10 days. Going into the season, Peak had just an EKU and Morehouse offer, but now in the last 24 hours, he has received his first two P5 offers in Virginia and Georgia Tech. Several more D1 programs like Arkansas State, Georgia State, and Austin Peay have offered too. Peak could really see his recruitment catch on fire here, a lot of P5 programs have passed on offensive linemen in this class but Peak’s senior film is legit, and to go along with his size it’s almost a certainty he will land more P5 offers.

Sleeper of the Day

Ontavious Carolina
2022 Colquitt Co.

The athletic 6’3″ hybrid receiver/tight end/defensive end has been on our radar for a few years now, but production seems to be limited during his sophomore and junior year. In those brief moments though, Carolina showed the explosiveness and ball skills to make him a legit threat in the red zone. The 2022 has packed on 15 lbs. since last year and is now up to 200 lbs. Carolina is a tough blocker, who shows great urgency at the point of attack. During his junior year he got additional reps on the edge on defense, which definitely takes advantage of his quickness and length. On one play he read the QB’s eyes perfectly on a screen pass out to the flat and picked off the pass from nearly point-blank then returned for a score. That sort of encapsulates Carolina as a football player. In moments, an explosive athlete who shows impressive hand-eye coordination and FBS upside. He has a legit frame to grow into, and we suspect the 2022 athlete will be at 230 at the college level. Carolina’s junior year he seemed to be more at home on the defensive side of the football, and senior year we suspect he is a candidate to get double-digit sacks for Colquitt. His early senior film shows that Carolina is once again being utilized effectively on both sides of the football. To me, he is one of the more dynamic athletes with upside still uncommitted here in 2022.
