Recruiting Recap 8/15 – 8/19

Over the weekend Rusty Mansell of 247sports.com reported that Calhoun’s two-way athlete Baylon Spector had committed to Clemson. Spector is one of the most versatile athletes from the class of 2017  in Georgia and garnered interest mostly from ACC and SEC schools. He had five other offers and is an impressive early 2017 commit for the Clemson Tigers.

Be on the lookout for senior running back Malek Bowe from Fayette County. He had a 70-yard run last weekend in his scrimmage. His HUDL shows an impressive game last year against Cedartown. Even though he plays in an option-based offense, Bowe should see a lot more reps this year.

Tysean Carter, a 5’8″ stout Creekside CB/SB, was offered by Bethune-Cookman on August 15. The 2016 back is a flat-out football player (JR Film) and coaches should be on the lookout for his latest film because he is primed for a big season.

Another Calhoun player made news this weekend: Ryan Randall, their young receiver, caught a 50-yard TD in the scrimmage over the weekend. Randall has impressive film and is only a class of 2017 ATH. Check out his Recruit Georgia Profile HERE.

Roswell trio Xavier Mckinney (’17), Christian Ford (’18) and LeAnthony Williams Jr (’17) visited Auburn on Saturday according to LeAnthony Williams Sr. They soaked up the intrasquad scrimmage and the nice weather.

Christian Tutt received yet another offer from a big-time college football program. The Florida Gators offered him on August 15 and they hope to play their Vernon Hargraves superstar card.

Our friend Barry Every from NUC will be on the road this weekend covering Deejay Dallas from Glynn Academy against a tough Wayne County defense.

Grayson’s recruiting coach Kenyatta Watson sent us the film of Dimetrios Mason, a 2016 wide receiver. Mason is a very athletic player, who runs with good body lean and above-average speed. Look for him to have ample opportunities this fall to make big plays like he did last weekend with Chase Brice throwing him the rock.

Walton had a pair of Ivy League commits so far this week. Christian Sullivan committed to Princeton and Ryan Roegge pledged to Dartmouth. Both are good athletes, but Roegge especially seems to be overlooked by FBS schools. He hits like a ton of bricks and has great instincts on defense. Couple his ability to tackle with his height and Ryan could easily grow into playing linebacker at the next level.

James Madison landed OT Michael Faulkner from Collins Hill on 8/17.

Side note: I had no idea that James Madison’s stadium was so impressive looking—25k capacity too.

Class of 2016 Roswell wide receiver, Kendrick Jackson affirmed that he is still open and had not committed to the Auburn Tigers. Multiple reports contrarily stated he had committed, but he tweeted saying he is focused on the season.

Cook High School’s star running back Marion Kejon Deberry received a letter from Purdue recently. Deberry has incredible balance and at times can be nearly impossible to tackle. Check out his really impressive junior year film HERE.
