Sleeper of the Day

Jaidon Abdullah
2025 Norcross
Edge

For a 195 lbs. player, Abdullah is a lot more physical than I expected. He has violent hands at the point of attack and good balance taking on blockers where he holds his ground and then utilizes his 6’3″ to leverage off the block with a quick swim move. Abdullah has fantastic hustle coming from the backside and good closing speed. You can see that especially in the Lanier game where he makes a backside tackle to the opposite sideline or even a miss-snap where he scrambled to the football before the QB could. The senior needs to continue to work on his pad level and staying low. The senior has solid weight-lifting numbers with a 385 SQ and 270 PC. Plus a 36″ vertical jump, which that quick-twitch is also showcased on film. He has a lot of pass-rushing upside, and with only about 70ish views on his junior film, he is pretty under the radar among evaluators. Abdullah’s strong start to his senior year indicates that more programs beyond Morehouse will be recruiting him soon, so keep on the Norcross senior.

Commitments

James Johnson
2025 Douglas County
Southern California

Johnson is a player of the year candidate for 6A this year. The senior is dynamic with the football in his hands, capable of being an impact player in the backfield, out at receiver, or in my opinion, a special defensive back. His quickness and ability to navigate the open field are among the best in Georgia, and wherever he ends up, USC is getting one of the most dynamic athletes in the country. USC is making Georgia a priority for this cycle with commitments from JuJu Lewis, the top player in the state, along with Shamar Arnoux, Kee Reddick, Jadon Perlotte, and now James Johnson. Plus, elite junior linebacker Xavier Griffin recently pledged. The Peach State momentum seems to have no end in sight for the Trojans.

Three ‘n Out

Trion senior WR Ethan Willingham is taking a visit to Middle Tennessee this weekend for their game against Tennessee Tech. The explosive pass-catcher who can contort his body mid-air among the best has been under the radar for too long – in our opinion. Willingham is an inch taller and 10 lbs. heavier than last year, setting himself up for an All-State season.

Oglethorpe’s 6’3″ senior Justin Jackson has looked impressive at DB in his early season film. He shows good athleticism and physicality pressing on receivers. Jackson is active at raking the football out and his length just creates a huge radius to get his hands on the ball. As his coach Mike Holland said underneath this post, “This young man has come a long way! Excited to see what he does the rest of the season.”

TJ Lester honors his late father with this touching post. Lester’s father, Tim, who was a great FB in the NFL playing for the Steelers, Rams, and Cowboys, passed away shortly after TJ’s freshman season. Now almost 4 years later, TJ Lester is among the top running backs in the state and the premier runner for the consensus #1 team in Georgia, Milton. Lester is currently committed to EKU, and his impressive start to his senior year could add more intrigue to FBS programs over the coming weeks and months. Recruiting to the side, it is Lester’s senior season, and he’s playing with all his heart.
