Recruiting Recap 7/28

High school football in the state of Georgia is just kicking off with the second day of practice in full swing and Dakori West and his teammates at Newton Co. High School were up at the crack of dawn putting in early work.

Newton County is a team that could go very far into the state playoffs this year. A lot of talented athletes are being recruited by both Power 5 conference schools and winning mid-majors. It will be an interesting team to follow this fall. Coach Terrance Banks has built a winning culture at Newton Co but can they take the next step?

Tyreek King-El a slot back out of Pebblebrook High School committed to the Naval Academy. His film showcases a slashing running style and especially good hands for a receiver. He looks like an ideal A-Back recruit for the Midshipmen.

William Poole III continues receiving scholarships this off-season, his most recent being from Florida State, just days after the University of Florida offered. It is always interesting to see rivals offer right after one another. William currently holds offers from most of the elite programs in the Southeast.

Cornell sent out two offers today, one to CB Antonio Trapp from Sandy Creek, and the other to RB/DB DeAndre Bowman II from Pacelli HS in Columbus, Ga. Both are explosive athletes who show very good lateral quickness.

Tight End Mack Nash was offered by Western Carolina today. He is from Camden County and possesses adequately soft hands. He could eventually grow to be an OT, especially in the right offense.

Roswell’s QB Quintarius Neely received his 2nd offer today from the Army Black Knights and Lenoir-Rhyne offered soon after. Guilford College also offered a couple days ago. Neely is a prospect to keep an eye on this fall. He is a Lovejoy transfer and he projects to be a very good dual-threat QB and Coach Monken must feel similarly.
