Commitments

Bryce Stanfield
2021 Harrison
Furman

Scoop: Stanfield has been a starter for a few years at Harrison and last fall he was a key contributor to their state title. He is a fundamentally sound DL who does a great job of reading the play. The Harrison defender has some versatility to play across the DL depending on the down and distance at 6’2″ 250 – he should continue to grow and be a lot closer to 280 at the college level. Furman lands a rock-solid D1 football player, plus a great student with a 4.4 GPA and 29 on the ACT.

Heating Up

Davis Watson
2021 Darlington

Watson is a very good athlete, and gets to the 2nd level really quickly right at the snap. He’s an aggressive athlete with a good motor. Last fall he was just at 235 lbs., but over the last 6-8 months Watson has added 20 lbs. to his 6’5″ frame. His recruitment is really starting to take off with the trio of offers he took in yesterday on top of his Army offer back in May. The 2021 OT has good flexibility, and as mentioned earlier, just a pure athlete with his best years of football well ahead of him. We can see more D1 programs jumping on here with offers.

Sleeper of the Day

Antonio Knighton
2021 Dougherty

Knighton is one of those athletes just pops on film, and we wrote his name down after a promising sophomore season. Junior year there is continued progress, and the powerful 6’3″ athlete is more than capable of landing the big hit. Acceleration is outstanding, the 2021 recruit absolutely flies in the direction of the football, and given his 6’3″ frame, he can really stride out and cover ground. That length also gives him a nice radius to break up passes. Knighton is probably a SS at the next level, but could also be an OLB too. Definitely an FBS caliber athlete considering his size and speed, but production will need to continue here his senior year. He had several interceptions on the year where he showed good ball skills making tough diving catches for the turnover. Definitely a raw prospect, but has legit athleticism and excellent size. Dougherty should take another step here as a program, and we think more D1 programs will take an interest in Knighton.
